What Clearhead is
Clearhead is an iOS app that records what you choose to log about your drinking, sends you notifications ahead of the times you are most likely to drink, and reminds you to log if you ask it to. It is a personal tracking tool, nothing more.
What it is not
It is not a medical device, a treatment programme, or a source of medical advice, and it is not a substitute for a doctor, a therapist, or a support group. Alcohol withdrawal can be medically serious. If you think you may be dependent on alcohol, talk to a healthcare professional before making changes — the app will always point you toward real help rather than away from it.
The numbers are estimates
Units, standard drinks, calories, money, and minutes of walking are worked out from typical figures for each kind of drink and from what you told the app. They are close enough to be useful and not exact enough to be relied on. Where the app compares a week against a guideline, that guideline is a country's published public-health guidance, named on screen; it is general advice, not advice about you. Anything the app reads from or writes to Apple Health is subject to the same limits.
Notifications and reminders may not arrive
Messages and reminders depend on Apple's notification service, your notification and calendar settings, your network, and your device. They can be delayed or lost, and the app is designed on the assumption that any single message might not land. Do not rely on Clearhead as your only safeguard.
Your content
Everything you write, dictate, and log is yours. It stays on your device; we claim no rights to it and have no way to read it.
Free and Pro
Logging, the messages for the days you declared, the last thirty days of history, Stories, crisis resources, exporting your data, and deleting everything are free and stay free. Clearhead Pro adds warnings for the days the app works out on its own, your full history and all-time totals, Patterns, the full hangover-support library, and Apple Health sync.
Subscriptions
Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription — yearly, with a free trial for new subscribers where offered, or weekly. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase, or when a free trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Subscriptions renew at the same price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you can manage or cancel them in your App Store account settings. Prices may vary by country and can change; you will be told before any change applies to you. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms, not by us. Cancelling Pro never removes anything you logged.
Acceptable use
Please do not attempt to disrupt the service, access other people's data, or use the app to break the law. We may withdraw access if you do.
Age
Clearhead is for adults. You must be at least 18, or the legal drinking age where you live if that is higher, to use it.
Liability
Clearhead is provided as-is, without warranties. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a way that matters, the app will say so plainly. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
